Lohne, Germany. January 2021. Today, Biochem announced that the European Commission had approved TechnoSpore®, the first Bacillus coagulans-based probiotic for animals with an EU-authorisation. TechnoSpore® delivers a gut health management solution for suckling and weaned piglets, poultry for fattening, and ornamental birds.

The approval of TechnoSpore® in the European Union provides animal nutritionists and farmers with a new effective probiotic to support health and performance in monogastric animals. In contrast to other probiotics, TechnoSpore® consists of a single powerful bacterial strain named Bacillus coagulans DSM 32016 that entails the beneficial features of both, lactic acid bacteria and spore-forming bacteria.

This innovation was developed by a global team of Biochem scientists and nutritionists and builts on Biochem's 30 years of experience with probiotics and gut health management.

In consideration of different trial conditions and various animal species worldwide, Biochem successfully proved the reliable efficacy of TechnoSpore®. Associated studies repeatedly demonstrated that TechnoSpore® has multiple modes of action, which significantly improve:

  • Intestinal health and food safety by inhibiting a broad range of pathogens

  • Immune defense by stimulating the IgA production of the animal

  • Overall well-being, and thus performance potential

  • Daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio

As a result, TechnoSpore® administration leads to optimal conditions for a more profitable animal production.
