Obituary for Melinda Culver.

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our dear colleague Melinda Culver, who passed away on January 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with a serious illness.

Melinda joined our company in 2022 and quickly became the “written face” of Biochem. As the voice behind our website, LinkedIn channel, newsletters, and podcast, she gave our company a distinctive and recognizable tone. With her outstanding academic background as a veterinarian and animal scientist (PhD, DVM), she had a deep understanding of our work and always found the right words to express it.

Melinda was a woman of remarkable talent and wide-ranging interests. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she chose Germany as her home. At heart, she always remained a passionate companion-animal veterinarian and a committed advocate for science. Her creativity knew no bounds, whether through her beautiful illustrations or by designing and sewing her own clothing, Melinda enriched those around her with originality, warmth, and spirit.

Despite her serious illness, it was very important to Melinda to remain part of company life until the very end; she even joined us at the Christmas celebration in Lohne this past December. We are deeply grateful for these final moments together, which will remain precious memories for all of us.

With Melinda, we lose not only a brilliant colleague, but also a kind-hearted and compassionate human being. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her partner, Olaf Schöllhorn, as well as to her family and friends around the world.

Rest in peace, Melinda. You will be deeply missed.
