Why is Feed Quality Important?

So much effort goes into making the perfect feed formulation. Unfortunately, even the best formulations are subject to spoilage. Feed spoilage is caused by the growth of undesirable molds and bacteria causing heating of feed, which reduces the energy as well as precious vitamins available for the animal to use. In addition, spoiled feeds tend to have off-putting characteristics resulting in decreased feed intake or even feed refusal. Addressing the cause of spoilage in feeds can support continued feed intake for better health and productivity.
