Product Benefits.

Modes of Action.

Our effective range of feed additives and dietary feed supplements are specifically selected and developed to support animal health and productivity.

Co-factor

Trace minerals and vitamins are important co-factors in physiologic processes. Trace elements function as activators of antioxidant enzymes. Vitamins have numerous roles in biochemical functions.

Structural Element

Serves as an integral element in vital structures. E.g., iron is a crucial component of hemoglobin for oxygen transport. Calcium is required for the building of bones and eggshell mineralization.

Less Antagonistic Effects

In organically bound minerals the metals are protected against antagonistic effects like creating undesired bonds between other feed molecules.

Stable at Low pH Values

Because of the stability even at low pH values, there is less release of free metal ions in the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Beneficial Absorption Rate

Effective transport to the intestinal wall leads to a higher absorption. Organically bound minerals have a superior bioavailability than inorganic minerals.

Iron is important for healthy animals. Its primary role is as a component of hemoglobin and myoglobin, which are key to the transport and movement of oxygen throughout the body. Iron also functions in several enzymes that are key to energy metabolism and is a component of the antioxidant system.

Despite iron’s importance, it is often supplemented as inorganic iron. However, inorganic iron is easily separated in the gut allowing for the formation of insoluble complexes with other free metals or other dietary components. This results in unabsorbed iron being excreted in the feces, potentially contaminating the environment.

Organically bound iron is iron bound to a single amino acid or amino acids from hydrolyzed soy protein. Organic iron has greater binding strength and is better protected from antagonistic effects in the gut. The result is iron that is better absorbed and metabolized, with a direct impact on animal health and productivity.

B.I.O.Key® Iron is an organic form of iron bound to amino acids from hydrolyzed soy protein. B.I.O.Key® Iron has several advantages over inorganic iron. The iron-amino acid complex provides superior stability at the low pH found in the gastrointestinal tract. This protects and reduces the amount of metal that becomes unbound to form insoluble complexes with other elements in the gut and reduces antagonistic effects between mineral transport. Effective transport to the intestinal wall and beneficial absorption rates leads to higher bioavailability. Using B.I.O.Key® Iron means that this essential trace element is always available during times of increased demand or stress.

Iron is only a small part of the total feed—but it makes all the difference! Iron can only provide nutritional value if it is absorbed. B.I.O.Key® Iron has been successfully used in high-performance animal feeds with proven superior absorption over inorganic iron. B.I.O.Key® Iron is an easy choice!
